For me this is definitely a candidate for cream (at least) and sugar. It is a medium roast, but has a good bit of a bite that lingers. A bit of a smoky (maybe really dark chocolaty) taste that is nice, although not my personal taste.

Ken’s Notes:

The Sweet Unity Farms Kilimanjaro Dark is dark roast coffee and a 10 gram pod. This is a nice dark roast coffee with lots of character. I brewed this with my Senseo 7810 pod brewer on the 2 cup setting and the brew delivered a very nice crema. It is a definitely a dark roast, brewed it has a bit of a woody / smoky flavor and has a brief mild aftertaste.

A wonderful coffee to sip with chocolate (what coffee isn’t), but this coffee matches really nicely.

About Sweet Unity Farms:

In 1989 David Robinson, son of baseball great Jackie Robinson, together with his family planted 30,000 coffee seedlings on their farm in Tanzania. Thus began the story of Sweet Unity Farms.

Tanzania’s Sweet Unity Farms Coffee is grown exclusively by cooperatives of small-scale family owned coffee farms. The coffee is 100% Arabica, high mountain grown and produced in Direct Trade relationships with North American roasters like Reunion Island Coffee.

These direct trade relationships result in farmers and their communities receiving more money for their coffee crop. This money is used to enhance the quality of life by funding solar electricity, water, education and other projects.

Ken’s Review:

When you brew Wolfgang Puck Oktober Spice the aroma is amazing. The smell of fall cooking, cinnamon and pumpkin spices. And when you taste this coffee the promise that your nose made is fulfilled. Drinking it black, you can taste the cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves…. it is all there. Add a bit of sweetener and cream, wow!!!

This coffee is available in coffee pods that work in machines from Senseo (double pod holder), Bunn, PodPro (12 gram pod holder), Grindmaster pod brewers and others pod brewers that will hold a 12 gram pod.

For Keurig users, you can take advantage of this great coffee if you get a MyPodCup. With the MyPodCup, you replace (temporarily) the Keurig k-cup holder with the MyPodCup and add a Oktober Spice pod. Pumpkin Spice all year-long.

From the Manufacturer:

The luxuriously deep flavor of Ghirardelli Premium Double Hot Cocoa creates the intense, lingering chocolate experience cherished by true cocoa lovers. Our hot cocoa comes from the finest cocoa beans, roasted to perfection for an intense chocolate taste. Enjoy as the pleasure of your Double Chocolate Flavor Hot Cocoa lingers and time stands still.

Ken’s Review:

This hot cocoa was originally formulated for in partnership with Keurig to be used with the Keurig brewer. Keurig was unable to get the flavor they wanted in a k-cup and decided a packet was a good option. It turned out to be a great product, both for Keurig and for Ghirardelli so Ghirardelli released it for sale itself. It is a really great tasting cocoa that we enjoy at home and at the office.

We make this hot cocoa with 8 ounces of water (per the instructions) and it is just great. It has an unmatched chocolaty taste that is not found in any of the k-cup solutions. This hot chocolate just tastes better than anything else we have tried (k-cup or packet), the flavor is really rich and deep.

The other really cool thing about the packet is I take about half a packet and brew coffee into it to create a rich and chocolaty Mocha. Nothing better to start the day and with the packet, there is not any extra water to dilute the flavor of the cocoa or the coffee. It is yummy…..

These hot cocoa packets have about 170 calories, 45 from fat.

Grove Square Cocoa, it’s never been more delicious or easier to prepare. The milk chocolate flavored varieties has all the creamy, chocolaty richness that make cocoa a classic favorite. Each sip offers makes this the perfect treat to enjoy any time of day

Grove Square Milk Chocolate Cocoa has the creamy smoothness that makes milk chocolate a classic favorite

24 Count – Designed to fit Keurig Brewers.

Ken’s Comments:

I have been really impressed with all of the Grove Square Hot Chocolates and Cappuccinos. What I really like about them is how well they disolve. When you make one of these products in the Keurig brewer, all the product disolves. That is really important because of the product format.

The milk chocolate hot cocoa has a nice sweetness, but is not overly sweet and has a good milk chocolate taste. I like it at least as much as the Green Mountain hot chocolate. Although I still prefer the Ghiradelli Hot Cocoa packets with the Keurig, even though it is not in a k-cup format. See our Ghirardelli Review.

I tried the pod cup out in a Keurig B-70 and it fits and works fine. The MyPodCup takes the place of the k-cup holder in the brewer. After each use, the MyPodCup, pops out, you unscrew the cap and pop the pod out. Pretty easy.

To test, I made the same coffee with a k-cup and the MyPodCup and the volume and flavor of the coffee was very similar, I really could not tell the difference. Using the same type of coffee pod in my PodPro brewer, the coffee tasted about the same, although the PodPro brewer coffee had a crema on the top of the coffee that was not achieved with either the k-cup or the MyPodCup.
